Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun has been officially activated from the disabled list in advance of Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh, the club announced. He's also in the lineup in his customary three hole. As a corresponding move, the Brewers placed Aramis Ramirez on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 11, with a hamstring injury.

Both of the moves were expected, but there was at least some question as to Braun's status once Ramirez was hurt.

Braun, 30, is coming back from an oblique injury. On the season, he's hitting .318/.361/.591 (156 OPS+) with four doubles, six homers and 18 RBI in 22 games. The first-place Brewers are 16-6 with him in the starting lineup this season.

Having Braun in the lineup instead of Ramirez is a net positive, but obviously the Brewers would like to have both.

After a 20-7 start, Milwaukee is now 24-14, though they still have a 5.5 game lead in the NL Central entering Tuesday night.
