The Rangers have placed left-hander Martin Perez on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his elbow, the team announced. According to multiple reports, Perez has a partially torn UCL and may be facing Tommy John surgery. He's likely to try the rehab route first.

Perez, 23, missed time with a fractured left forearm last season after being hit by a comebacker. He is 4-3 with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in eight starts and 51 1/3 innings so far this year. Perez threw back-to-back shutouts against the White Sox and Athletics a few weeks ago.

In other moves, the Rangers called up right-handers Nick Tepesch and Scott Baker from Triple-A Round Rock. Justin Germano was designated for assignment.
