The White Sox were the bearers of both good news and bad news Sunday. Exciting leadoff man and center fielder Adam Eaton was reinstated from the disabled list, but as a corresponding move, rookie slugging sensation Jose Abreu was placed on the DL due to an ankle injury.

Abreu has what the team has announced as posterior tibia tendonitis in his left ankle. After being relegated to designated hitter recently, he had to be replaced late in the game Saturday due to the issue and now he'll be shelved at least two weeks.

The 27-year-old Cuban import is hitting .260/.312/.595 (142 OPS+) with 11 doubles, 15 homers and 42 RBI this season. He leads the AL in homers, RBI slugging percentage and total bases. Needless to say, losing him from the lineup is a big blow. Expect Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko to be the 1B/DH combo on a daily basis with Abreu out.

The flip-side to losing the top run producer is the White Sox do get their top table-setter back. Eaton has been out since May 2 with a hamstring injury. On the year, he's hitting .276/.363/.378 (104 OPS+) with five doubles, one triple, one homer, 14 RBI, 20 runs and two steals.
