The Indians and Tigers combined for 21 runs on 30 hits Wednesday. The game provided us with three stolen bases', eight doubles' and five homers' worth of entertainment as part of that offensive barrage. After all that, the game ended in the 13th inning on a balk.
The victory gave the Indians a three-game sweep over the Tigers -- who had previously won 16 of their last 21 games against Cleveland.
The series as a whole was pretty shocking, as the Indians were swept last weekend by the A's and outscored 30-6. Meanwhile, the Tigers had just gone 6-0 to begin their nine-game road trip.
The Tigers are still in first in the AL Central and the Indians are still in last -- trailing by 7.5 games -- but this series could be just what the Indians need to get things on track.
As far as the Tigers, consider it a blip on the radar -- just as fluky as losing an 11-10 game in which Max Scherzer started on a 13th inning balk.
