Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun was activated from the disabled list Wednesday. He'd been out since injuring a ligament in his ankle April 15. With Calhoun back in the lineup, Angels manager Mike Scioscia decided to rest Mike Trout for the first time this season.

Trout told reporters after Tuesday night's victory that his hamstring was sore, but the non-start Wednesday shouldn't be viewed as a serious issue:

Calhoun, 26, was hitting .250/.297/.500 with four doubles, a triple, three homers, six RBI, 12 runs and two stolen bases in 14 games before his injury. Said injury came at a pretty bad time, too, because he had just started to heat up -- going 7-for-15 with three doubles, a triple and a homer in his last three games.

The Angels head into Wednesday night's action with the third-best record in the AL at 25-20. They'll also get Josh Hamilton back within the next week or two.
