Cuban signee Erisbel Arruebarrena to make MLB debut for Dodgers

Back in February, our own Jon Heyman reported that the Dodgers signed Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena to a five-year, $25 million contract. Before camp broke, Arruebarrena was dispatched to the minors. There, he has struggled: .208/.252/.302 with a 4/31 BB/K ratio for Double-A Chattanooga.

Despite those fits and starts, the 24-year-old Arruebarrena is set to make his major-league debut Friday night for the Dodgers. Here's the tweet of note from Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times ...

Arruebarrena, who's considered a defensive whiz in the middle infield, was called up after Juan Uribe hit the DL on Wednesday. It's worth noting that Arruebarrena's bat had been heating up in recent days. He'll likely fill a reserve role while he's on the active roster, at least this time around.
