VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton hits longest homer of the year, maybe

I know why you're here. You want to see Giancarlo Stanton hit a mammoth home run. So, here you go:

I can't remember ever seeing another ball hit off the batter's eye in that ballpark. Marlon Byrd hit one in the bushes in front of the batter's eye earlier this week (video), but not off the wall.

I have not yet seen an official measurement on Stanton's blast. ESPN's Home Run Tracker says Byrd's homer traveled 442 feet and Stanton's was well clear of that. Add another 30-40 feet, maybe? That's just eyeballing it. It did hit several feet up the wall.

The longest homer of 2014 was this 485-foot shot by Todd Frazier, so, at the very least, Stanton's blast is in the ballpark, no pun intended. The longest homer of the season? Maybe.
