As expected, the Indians have activated All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis from the 15-day disabled list and he's in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. As a corresponding move, Justin Sellers was optioned to Triple-A Columbus, the club announced.

Kipnis, 27, has been out since injuring his abdominal area in late April. He's hitting .234/.354/.394 with six doubles, three homers, 12 RBI, 12 runs and four steals in 27 games this season. Keep in mind, last season he got off to a slow start before catching serious fire in June, springboarding him to an All-Star selection and an 11th place finish in AL MVP voting.

The Indians lost both Nick Swisher and Carlos Santana to the DL Tuesday, so getting Kipnis back helps to mitigate at least some of the production lost.
