The Yankees have lost both first baseman Mark Teixeira and right-hander Michael Pineda to setbacks, manager Joe Girardi announced following Saturday's game.

Teixeira, 34, left Saturday's game with soreness in his right wrist. He received a cortisone shot and will rest both Sunday and Monday before being reevaluated on Tuesday. Teixeira missed most of last season after having surgery on the wrist, and he sat out three games earlier this week with continued soreness. A visit to the doctor on Thursday confirmed there was no structural damage, only inflammation.

The 25-year-old Pineda has been shut down with inflammation in his upper back/shoulder. He is currently on the disabled list with a muscle strain in that very spot. Pineda pitched in an extended spring training game earlier this week and was scheduled to do so again Sunday. Girardi said he felt soreness while playing catch on Thursday. Pineda was expected to return to the team in mid June.

Teixeira has hit .242/.370/.477 with nine homers in 37 games this season. Kelly Johnson figures to take over at first base in the interim. Pineda went 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA in four starts before getting hurt. He was suspended 10 games for getting caught with pine tar last month, then hurt himself while throwing a simulated game during the suspension.

The Yankees are also without Carlos Beltran (elbow), CC Sabathia (knee), Shawn Kelley (back) and Francisco Cervelli (hamstring).
