Angels center fielder Mike Trout exited Tuesday night's game against the Astros (LAA-HOU GameTracker) after 1 1/2 innings because of what the team is calling "mid-back discomfort." Trout had also missed the previous two games with back problems, so this situation certainly bears monitoring.
Some additional details from MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez:
Trout got treatment Monday & said he "didn't feel [the back] at all" while taking early BP in the cage pregame. Must've acted up again.— Alden Gonzalez (@Alden_Gonzalez) June 4, 2014
Needless to say, the Angels are hoping this doesn't wind up necessitating a roster move.
This season, the 22-year-old Trout is carrying on as one of baseball top hitters: .294/.380/.549 (163 OPS+) with 11 homers in 53 games.
