With outfield production lacking, the Boston Red Sox have announced that they've signed Andres Torres to a minor-league deal. The switch hitter has mostly been a center fielder in his career, but he has experience in left and right, too.

Torres, 36, hit .250/.302/.342 (86 OPS+) with 17 doubles, two homers, 21 RBI, 33 runs and four steals in 300 plate appearances for the Giants last season. He was productive for the World Series champion Giants in 2010, when he hit .268/.343/.479 with 43 doubles, eight triples, 16 homers and 26 steals and also played very well in the NLCS and World Series.

Since then, though, Torres hasn't done much.

The Red Sox haven't gotten much this season from two outfield spots. Center fielders are hitting .192/.288/.288 while right fielders are hitting .207/.258/.305. The Grady Sizemore experiment can probably be called a bust while Jackie Bradley Jr. hasn't progressed much overall just yet.
