Diamondbacks right-hander Bronson Arroyo may he heading to the disabled list for the first time in his career due to an elbow injury. He exited Sunday's start after only five innings and 78 pitches.

Arroyo, 37, missed a bunch of time in spring training with a back issue. Otherwise he made at least 32 starts and threw at least 199 innings every year from 2005-13.

Including Sunday's outing, Arroyo has gone 7-4 with a 4.08 ERA in 14 starts and 86 innings this season. Arizona gave him a two-year, $23.5 million contract over the winter thanks in part to his durability.

The D-Backs are already without Patrick Corbin and Daniel Hudson, both of whom are rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Trevor Cahill was recently demoted to the minors as well. Righty Zeke Spruill could fill in for Arroyo if he has to go on the disabled list.
