On Monday, the Diamondbacks placed right-hander Bronson Arroyo on the disabled list with elbow tendinitis. Arroyo has been dealing with elbow discomfort for some time, and he was forced to exit his most recent start on Sunday. This marks the first time in his 15-year career that Arroyo has landed on the DL.

This season, Arroyo, age 37, has pitched to a 4.08 ERA (91 ERA+) after 14 starts. For his career, he's 145-131 with an ERA of 4.19 (103 ERA+). Just once since 2004 has Arroyo failed to pitch at least 200 innings in a season, and that was in 2011 when he logged 199.

There's not yet a clear time-table for Arroyo's return. Outfielder Roger Kieschnick will take Arroyo's roster spot, but it's not yet certain who'll replace him in the Arizona rotation.
