Just over a year since being the second overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, Cubs prospect Kris Bryant has been promoted to Triple-A. The news was broken by ... Bryant.

Gotta love the new-age media!

Bryant, 22, had been making a mockery of Double-A pitching for weeks and it's rather clear now that the Cubs were simply waiting until after the Southern League All-Star Game. Bryant won the Home Run Derby Monday, went 1-for-5 in the All-Star Game Tuesday and now heads to Iowa.

In 68 games this season for Double-A Tennessee, Bryant hit .355/.458/.702 with 20 doubles, 22 homers, 58 RBI and 61 runs.

He leads the Southern League in hits, runs, homers (by nine), RBI, average (by 30 points), on-base percentage (by 48 points) and slugging percentage (by 105 points), so it's safe to say he was a man among boys.

The promotion comes less than 11 months after Bryant made his professional debut, which was July 21, 2013 in Rookie ball.

If Bryant can dominate Triple-A like this, there's a chance we'll see him in the majors this season, but a more likely scenario seems like early 2015, maybe even opening day.
