Another day of baseball is in the books, but this was no ordinary day of baseball. Clayton Kershaw no-hit the Rockies in a game that was as close to perfect as it gets. He was brilliant. Here is a recap of the day's other news from around the league.

Indians: Designated LHP Josh Outman for assignment, the team announced.

Marlins: Signed RHP Brad Penny to a minor league contract.

Tigers: Designated RHP Evan Reed for assignment, the team announced. RHP Chad Smith was called up in a corresponding move.

Yankees: C John Ryan Murphy is generating a lot of trade interest leading up to the trade deadline. (Jon Heyman)

Mariners: Agreed to sign C/OF Alex Jackson to an above-slot $4.2 million bonus.

Blue Jays: Placed LHP Brett Cecil on the 15-day DL with a groin injury, the team announced ... 3B Brett Lawrie is day-to-day with a hand contusion after being hit by a pitch, the club announced. X-rays came back negative.

Braves: LHP Jonny Venters (elbow) received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his elbow.

Cardinals: RHP Adam Wainwright (elbow) has been cleared to make his next start on Saturday, the team announced.

Indians: OF Michael Brantley (concussion) could return to the lineup as soon as Sunday. (MLB.com)

Marlins: OF Giancarlo Stanton left Wednesday's game with a wrist contusion and is day-to-day.

Rangers: 1B Mitch Moreland (ankle) has elected to have season-ending surgery, the team announced.

Twins: LHP Glen Perkins was unavailable Wednesday due to a sore back and is day-to-day, manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed.
