Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2014 Futures Game on Tuesday afternoon. The game features baseball's best prospects and will be played at Target Field on Sunday, July 13, right before the All-Star break.
Here are the full rosters for the USA and World Teams:
Every club has at least one representative and several have more than one. I would expect RHP Jose Berrios to start the game for the World Team since he's a hometown Twins prospect. Top Twins prospects OF Byron Buxton (wrist) and 3B Miguel Sano (Tommy John surgery) are currently out with injuries.
Team USA is loaded with power, as 3B Joey Gallo (27), 3B Kris Bryant (26), and C/IF Peter O'Brien (25) have hit the most home runs in professional baseball this season, majors or minors. The World Team boasts several power arms like LHP Julio Urias, RHP Luis Severino and LHP Enny Romero. That roster is always full of hard-throwing young pitchers.
It's worth noting these rosters can and will change due to injuries and call-ups. LHP Marco Gonzales, for example, will make his MLB debut for the Cardinals this weekend and will likely need to be replaced. SS Carlos Correa will have to be replaced after suffering a devastating ankle injury last week.
