Phillies pitching prospect Jesse Biddle is having a rough season on the mound and it might run deeper than that. He's been placed on the inactive list by the Reading Fightin Phils (Double-A) and then there's this:

The 6-foot-5 lefty was the Phillies first-round selection in 2010 out of Germantown Friends High School in Philadelphia. The local product was ranked as high as 53rd on the top prospects lists heading into this season, but he hasn't performed to expectations.

Through 15 starts in Double-A, he's 3-9 with a 5.03 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 78 2/3 innings. In his last outing, Biddle coughed up 10 earned runs on eight hits and three walks in just three innings.

The Fightin Phils announced that Biddle's leave was "temporary," so let's hope it's just run-of-the-mill unhappiness and he simply needs a quick mental break from the game. One can't help but think back to Zack Greinke needing almost a whole season off to deal with his social anxiety disorder, but, again, let's hope this isn't something resembling that.
