You'll recall that mere days ago the Athletics reached agreement on a new 10-year lease to keep them in the O.co Coliseum in Oakland. As noted in that original post, the new agreement was subject to approval by local officials.

And speaking of the meeting in which approval was to be granted, here's this from Carolyn Jones of the San Francisco Chronicle ...

Four members of the 8-member Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority - which operates O.co Coliseum - apparently boycotted the meeting, sources said. Without their participation, there was no quorum and a vote could not be taken.

Jones's story has additional details in what's becoming a messier situation, seemingly by the hour. The charitable among us will dismiss this as part of the "negotations" that will eventually lead to approval of the lease. Or not.

In any event, as Jones notes if the Coliseum Authority does eventually sign off on the lease, then the city and county must do so, as well. That is, this deal is far from officially done.

Developing, it would seem.
