Friday night brought us some pretty outstanding action in Major League Baseball. If you missed out, that's a shame.

Angels/Pirates: The clubs traded Jason Grilli and Ernesto Frieri for each other.

Mariners: Michael Saunders was activated from the disabled list and as a corresponding move, Jesus Montero was sent back to the minors.

Orioles: As expected, they placed Bud Norris on the disabled list with a strained groin.

Phillies: Carlos Ruiz has been placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.

Reds: They have signed Cuban import Raisel Iglesias to a seven-year, $27 million deal.

White Sox: The club designated Scott Downs for assignment and recalled Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Charlotte.

Twins: Shortstop Danny Santana was placed on the DL while pitcher Yohan Pino was recalled.


A's: Derek Norris had to leave Friday's game early due to lower back tightness (MLB.com).

Angels: Tyler Skaggs will start either Wednesday or Thursday in his return from the DL (Angels.com).

Astros: Dexter Fowler was a late scratch from the lineup Friday with a stiff back (Ultimate Astros).

Blue Jays: Brett Cecil threw off the mound and is preparing for a rehab assignment (bluejays.com).

Braves: Evan Gattis is day to day after leaving the game with back spasms.

Cubs: After crashing into the outfield wall in Wrigley Field Thursday, Junior Lake said he's feeling fine (Cubs.com).

Diamondbacks: Chris Owings was a late scratch from the lineup due to a left shoulder injury (diamondbacks.com).

Indians: Justin Masterson was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to a knee injury.

Mariners: James Paxton threw a 25-pitch bullpen session and said he felt "good" and "smooth." (Mariners.com).

Mets: David Wright has been sent back to New York for an MRI on his left shoulder.

Orioles: Top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy made his third rehab start for Class A Aberdeen Friday. CHECK HOW HE DID

Padres: Carlos Quentin was a late scratch from the lineup Friday due to a sore shoulder, meanwhile Andrew Cashner will start playing catch again in the next few days (Friar Wire).

Phillies: Cliff Lee threw a 40-pitch simulated game and said he felt good. He'll do the same thing within the next three days before a next step is decided (philly.com).

Red Sox: Both Shane Victorino and Will Middlebrooks have been shut down indefinitely.

Rockies: Wilin Rosario left Thursday's game with a back injury and was held out of the starting lineup Friday (rockies.com). Also, Brett Anderson will start his rehab stint soon (rockies.com).

Twins: Trevor Plouffe eyes a Monday return (Twins.com).

White Sox: Leg soreness kept Adam Eaton out of the lineup Friday (whitesox.com).

Yankees: CC Sabathia will throw 40-45 pitches in a rehab start Saturday for High-A Tampa (Yankees.com).

MISCELLANY (including trade rumors)

David Price: He's on his way out of Tampa Bay, but not just yet, reports Jon Heyman.

Athletics: Their agreed-upon lease with O.co Coliseum wasn't approved by the city, as a few officials boycotted the meeting.

Blue Jays: They are looking at second basemen, but not Daniel Murphy, as the club wants a defensive guy, reports Jon Heyman.

Blue Jays/Padres: The Jays are interested in Chase Headley, reports utsandiego.com.

Padres: They interviewed former Marlins executive Larry Beinfest for the vacant general manager position, the club announced in a press release.

Pirates: They offered phenom Gregory Polanco a real long deal (10-plus years), but there's a gap in negotiations, reports Jon Heyman.
