Astros center fielder Dexter Fowler has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retrocative to June 27, amid a flurry of roster moves. Fowler has an intercostal (ribcage) strain.

Also, the Astros designated pitcher Jerome Williams for assignment and optioned shortstop Jonathan Villar to Triple-A. As corresponding moves, pitcher Kevin Chapman, infielder Kike Hernandez and outfielder Domingo Santana have been promoted from Triple-A to the bigs.

Fowler, 28, is hitting .270/.377/.396 (117 OPS+) with 12 doubles, three triples, six homers, 24 RBI, 43 runs and six steals this season.

Both Hernandez (.337/.380/.508 with eight homers) and Santana (.304/.383/.502 with 13 homers) have hit well in Triple-A.

Also of note, with Santana's promotion to the majors, all four players the Astros got back from the Phillies for Hunter Pence in 2011 -- Santana, Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton and Josh Zeid -- are now on the big-league roster. That's a pretty impressive deal by much-maligned former GM Ed Wade.
