ROSTER MOVES & TRANSACTIONS

Blue Jays: Claimed OF Nolan Reimold off waivers from the Orioles, the team announced. OF Brad Glenn was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Orioles: Designated RHP Ramon Ramirez for assignment, the club announced. The move cleared a roster spot for RHP Kevin Gausman.

Rockies: Designated RHP Raul Fernandez for assignment, the team announced. The move cleared a roster spot for RHP Brooks Brown.

Royals: Signed LHP Scott Downs to a major league contract. (Jon Heyman)

Yankees: Acquired RHP Brandon McCarthy and cash from the Diamondbacks for LHP Vidal Nuno ... designated OF Alfonso Soriano for assignment.

INJURY UPDATES

Athletics: An MRI revealed no structural damage in 1B/OF Brandon Moss' ankle and he is expected to return to the lineup in the coming days. (Bay Area News Group)

Blue Jays: 1B Edwin Encarnacion is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a quad strain, though he will undergo more tests before being placed on the disabled list. (Fox Sports)

Dodgers: RHP Josh Beckett was pulled from Sunday's start after tweaking his hip running the bases. (AM 590)

Indians: OF Michael Bourn was placed on the 15-day DL with a hamstring injury.

Mets: Placed LHP Jonathon Niese on the 15-day DL with a shoulder strain.

Reds: 1B Joey Votto is reportedly headed back to the disabled list with a quad injury.

Twins: Top prospect OF Byron Buxton returned to the lineup with the team's High Class-A affiliate after missing most of the first three months of the season with a wrist problem.

White Sox: 3B Conor Gillaspie is day-to-day with a bruised knee after being hit by a pitch. (MLB.com)

Athletics: RHP Jeff Samardzija allowed one run in seven innings in his first start for Oakland.
