With regular starter Joey Votto ailing and reportedly headed to the disabled list, the Reds have listed right fielder Jay Bruce as their starter at first for Monday night's game against the Cubs.

Here's your visual proof:

Votto has been playing through a left quad injury for most of the season, though he was also on the disabled list for 23 games in the last few weeks of May and first few weeks of June. It is clearly affecting his performance, as the perennial MVP candidate is hitting just .255/.390/.409 with six homers and 23 RBI in 62 games. The weakness in his back leg was especially evident in a few swings late last week.

Bruce, 27, has never played first base in either the minors or the majors.
