Marlins right-hander Henderson Alvarez has been added to the National League All-Star roster, MLB announced. It is his first All-Star selection.

Alavarez is replacing Nationals righty Jordan Zimmermann on the roster. Zimmermann exited Friday's start with a biceps issue and is heading for an MRI.

In 19 starts and 120 innings this season, the 24-year-old Alavarez is 6-4 with a 2.63 ERA (146 ERA+) . He leads baseball with three complete-game shutouts.

The full All-Star rosters are right here. Alvarez will be joining teammate Giancarlo Stanton at the Midsummer Classic.

The Marlins acquired Alvarez from the Blue Jays as part of their blockbuster trade two offseason ago.
