According to Will Kane and Carolyn Jones of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Athletics have finally settled their 10-year lease agreement to remain in the O.co Coliseum. Owner Lew Wolff accepted changes made by city officials.

The new lease allows the Athletics to leave Oakland as soon as December 2017 with two years' notice, though the team would have to continue paying rent through the end of the agreement. The team is expected to pay Oakland and Alameda County about $20 million over the next 10 years.

Negotiations between the team and the city have been going on for weeks, and at one point Wolff was given permission by commissioner Bud Selig to begin immediately looking for a new home for the team. Wolff has interest in pursuing a new stadium at the O.co Coliseum site, and the lease agreement says the team will "engage in good faith discussions" to stay in Oakland.

Most of the changes made to the lease either clarified language or limited the city's liability. Wolff did not accept all changes, but he did accept enough to settle the ongoing dispute.
