The New York Yankees have acquired left-handed pitcher Chris Capuano from the Colorado Rockies for cash considerations, the club announced Thursday evening.

The Yankees will be the third franchise for Capuano this season, as he started off with the Red Sox and was later released on July 1. He then signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies on July 4.

With the Red Sox, Capuano, 35, was 1-1 with a 4.55 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings. All 28 of his appearances came in relief. He has, of course, primarily been a starter throughout his career and the Yankees have four starting pitchers on the DL. In fact, all five of the Yankees' current rotation members are right handed, so Capuano may figure in their plans in terms of the rotation moving forward.

Capuano had been a starter in the Rockies organization prior to this trade. He was 1-0 with a 3.07 ERA in three starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
