Wednesday night, MLB.com reported that the Giants were set to release second baseman Dan Uggla in order to clear room for some upcoming trade deadline activity.

But then conflicting reports started to arise...

And then the original reporter admitted he had erred:

So the Dan Uggla era is not over just yet.

Uggla is 0-for-11 with six strikeouts and one walk (.083 OBP!) in four games for the Giants. He has also committed three errors and the Giants lost all four games in which he appeared -- not that he was the cause, but he certainly didn't help matters.

Uggla is a three-time All-Star and was productive offensive second baseman as recently as 2012. He's set to make $13 million next season from the Braves and is 34 years old.
