We break no news when we point out that David Price was traded to the Tigers and Jon Lester was traded to the Athletics in advance of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

It is to be assumed, of course, that Rays GM Andrew Friedman and Red Sox GM Ben Cherington fielded many inquiries before eventually settling on a deal for their respective aces. According to one report, however, each team's owner was not inclined to greenlight any swap with the colossus in the Bronx ...

Take that, Yankees!
