Derek Jeter passes Honus Wagner with 3,431st career hit

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter picked up a hit Saturday that wasn't overly impressive, but it was a significant hit nonetheless, because it was number 3,431. He has passed the great Honus Wagner and moved into sixth place on the all-time hits list.

So, yeah, it wasn't exactly the home run that his 3,000th hit was, but it counts.

Here is the all-time hits leaderboard:

5. Tris Speaker, 3515
6. Derek Jeter, 3431
7. Honus Wagner, 3430

Decent company.

The chances Jeter gets hot enough to catch Speaker -- 84 hits in 46 games -- are somewhere between slim and none, so expect this to be the last post we write on Jeter this season (I kid!).
