The Blue Jays are six games behind Baltimore in the AL East, but they're right in the thick of a fun race for the AL's second wild-card spot. They are also set to be some offensive help in a big way, as Adam Lind and Edwin Encarnacion will be back shortly, assuming no setbacks.
Via Bluejays.com, Lind is expected to rejoin the team Monday, as he's recovered well from his broken foot.
Encarnacion began a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday evening for High-A Dunedin. He collected a single in his first at-bat (MiLB.com box score). Manager John Gibbons told Bluejays.com they are hoping to have Encarnacion back by the end of next week.
Encarnacion, a 31-year-old All-Star, is hitting .277/.368/.591 (160 OPS+) with 21 doubles, 26 homers and 70 RBI this season. Lind, 31, is hitting .320/.389/.489 (141 OPS+) with 16 doubles, four homers and 27 RBI in 61 games. So, yeah, adding these guys back to the lineup is going to impact things.
