The Dodgers on Sunday placed shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique. To take Ramirez's spot on the active roster, the Dodgers have recalled infielder Darwin Barney.

As for Ramirez's likely timetable, it sounds as though he'll be ready to be activated when first eligible:

This season, the 30-year-old Ramirez is batting .277/.367/.455 (133 OPS+) with 12 homers, 27 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Despite a long list of nagging injuries, he's managed to play in 100 games. Last season, Ramirez finished eighth in the NL MVP balloting. He's eligible for free agency this upcoming offseason.
