Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez will have surgery to repair his left patella tendon Monday, the club announced in a press release Thursday night. No official announcement was made as to a recovery timetable, but given the timing of the surgery and the fact that the Rockies are well out of the pennant race, it's a good bet Cargo's season is over.

The news comes just a day after it was revealed Colorado's other superstar, Troy Tulowitzki, needs season-ending hip surgery.

Gonzalez, 28, was placed on the DL a few days ago due to left knee tendinitis. He hit .238/.292/.431 (90 OPS+) with 11 homers and 38 RBI in 70 games (281 plate appearances) in a big-time down year for the two-time All-Star. His seven-year, $80 million deal runs through 2017.

The Rockies head to Friday tied with Texas for the worst record in baseball at 47-74.
