Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu is going to be placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right gluteus muscle, manager Don Mattingly told reporters Friday (Alana Rizzo).

Ryu left his Thursday start early due to the injury. Both Ryu and the Dodgers initially felt he would be able to make his next start, so his injury must have felt worse than expected Friday.

Ryu, 27, is 13-6 with a 3.28 ERA (108 ERA+), 1.19 WHIP and 122 strikeouts in 137 1/3 innings this season. This will be his second DL stint of the year.

With Ryu down, recently-acquired Kevin Correia steps into the Dodgers' rotation.
