The fathers of this sovereign land know a thing or two about a thing or two, and one of the things they know is that the proper uniform for lawncare duties involves pleated khaki shorts, dark dress socks pulled up to mid-calf and, atop the balding dome, a hat ballcap positioned and lovingly maintained so as to venture where eagles dare.

For a fleeting time, the lessons, powers and implications of the "dad hat" were not lost on a young Jorge Posada ...
