The Indians have signed veteran right-handed reliever Scott Atchison to a one-year contract extension covering the 2015 season, the team announced. The deal includes a club option for 2016.

Here is the salary breakdown:

Atchison, 38, signed a minor league contract with the Tribe this past offseason. He will earn $800,000 this season after making the team in spring training. Atchison and manager Terry Francona know each other from their time together with the 2010-11 Red Sox.

In 53 appearances and 55 innings this season, Atchison has a 2.95 ERA with 37 strikeouts and only seven unintentional walks. He has a 0.96 WHIP overall and has been an effective setup man alongside Bryan Shaw and closer Cody Allen.
