Philadelphia area Little Leaguer Mo'ne Davis has taken the nation by storm over the last week by becoming the first girl to throw a shutout in Little League World Series history. She also threw a shutout in Regionals play to punch her team's ticket to Williamsport.
Thanks to those back-to-back shutouts, Davis has landed on the cover of this week's Sports Illustrated:
Davis, a 13-year-old eighth grader, has said her dream is not to play baseball long-term, but to play basketball at UConn. Either way, she is in the national spotlight for her work on the mound, and anything that gets young fans interested in baseball is great for the sport.
