Reds closer Aroldis Chapman is day-to-day with a sore shoulder, manager Bryan Price confirmed to reporters, including MLB.com's Mark Sheldon. The news comes after the southpaw walked all four batters he faced on Sunday, his last appearance.

"He's just a little achy, and it just doesn't make sense at all for us to keep running him out there," said Price. "He was a little achy [Sunday]. I didn't want to say anything, but he was. By the time we knew there might be an issue, the damage was done ... Our trainers say it's a day-to-day thing and that he could be ready to go soon. I'm not crossing him off our list for tomorrow by any means."

For what it's worth, Chapman's velocity was down a touch on Sunday, meaning he was only sitting in the high-90s instead of his usual 100+. Here is his velocity graph, courtesy of Brooks Baseball:

Chapman, 26, has a 2.82 ERA and a ridiculous 74 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings this season. He's gone 26-for-28 in save chances. Chapman's season started in early May following the horrific line drive to the face incident in spring training.

The Reds are 61-64 coming in Tuesday, which leaves them nine games back in the NL Central and five games back of the wild-card spot. They have gone 10-20 since the All-Star break.
