Angels' ace Garrett Richards carted off with knee injury

Richards was hurt while covering first base following a ground ball to the right side off the bat of Brock Holt. Here's the play in question:

The severity of course isn't yet known, but the above doesn't look promising. Whatever the result, Richards's injury comes not long after the Angels lost fellow starter Tyler Skaggs to Tommy John surgery.

Coming into Wednesday night's start, the 26-year-old Richards this season had pitched to a 2.53 ERA and 3.28 K/BB ratio in 167 innings of work.
