Another fun day of baseball is in the books. Here is a recap of Wednesday's news from around the league.

RUMORS & TRANSACTIONS

Angels: Owner Arte Moreno remains adamant the team will not cross the $189 million luxury tax threshold next season. The team already has $140 million in contract commitments on the books for 2015. (Fox Sports)

Astros: May still be able to sign first overall pick LHP Brady Aiken even though the signing deadline passed last month.

Blue Jays: Designated RHP Sergio Santos for assignment, the team announced. RHP Chad Jenkins was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Dodgers: Do not seem to have serious interest in Mets RHP Bartolo Colon. (Peter Gammons)

Red Sox: OF Rusney Castillo has obtained his work visa and will soon begin playing in minor league games. (ESPN Boston)

Royals: Have not been in touch with the Mets about Colon since prior to the trade deadline. (Jon Heyman)

Yankees: Signed OF Chris Young to a minor league contract. (Jon Heyman)

INJURY UPDATES

Athletics: SS Jed Lowrie (finger) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. (San Francisco Chronicle)

Cardinals: RHP Adam Wainwright acknowledged he is dealing with a bit of a "dead arm" ... C Yadier Molina (thumb) caught six innings in his first Double-A rehab game ... RHP Michael Wacha (shoulder) has been cleared to make his first Double-A rehab start on Sunday. (CBS Sports 920AM)

Cubs: Placed OF Justin Ruggiano (ankle) and OF Ryan Sweeney (hamstring) on the 15-day DL, the team announced.

Dodgers: OF Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game with a mild right ankle sprain, the team announced. X-rays came back negative ... 3B Juan Uribe (hamstring) is likely to be activated when eligible on Saturday (MLB.com) ... LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute) threw a two-inning simulated and will likely be activated early next week. (MLB.com)

Diamondbacks: LHP Patrick Corbin (Tommy John surgery) may not return until May or June of next year.

Mets: RHP Vic Black is day-to-day with a slightly herniated disk in his neck. (Bergen Record)

Orioles: 3B Manny Machado (knee) had successful surgery and is out for the remainder of the season.

Pirates: OF Travis Snider left Wednesday's game with tightness in his hamstring, the team announced.

Reds: 1B Joey Votto (quad) did some baseball activities, including taking ground balls. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

Red Sox: SS Xander Bogaerts (concussion) has been cleared to be activated off the disabled list on Saturday. (Providence Journal)

Rockies: LHP Jorge De La Rosa (thumb) will make his next start, manager Walt Weiss confirmed.

MISCELLANY

AT&T Park: Rockies OF Corey Dickerson hit the 100th "Splash Hit" in ballpark history.

Giants: Manager Bruce Bochy won his 1,600th career game, passing Tommy Lasorda and moving into 19th play all-time.
