Another day of baseball is in the books. Here is a recap of Thursday's news from around the league.

RUMORS & TRANSACTIONS

DH Victor Martinez: Wants to play a "few more years" but believes he'll be out of the game before turning 40. Martinez is 35. (Fox Sports)

Brewers: Claimed 1B Justin Morneau off revocable trade waivers from the Rockies. The two sides were unable to work out a trade and Colorado pulled him back. (Jon Heyman)

Diamondbacks: Claimed OF Nolan Reimold off waivers from the Blue Jays, the team announced.

Phillies: Acquired RHP Victor Arano from the Dodgers as one of the players to be named later in the RHP Roberto Hernandez trade, the club announced.

Royals: Claimed UTIL Jayson Nix off waivers from the Pirates, the team announced.

Yankees: Acquired LHP Josh Outman from the Indians for a player to be named later or cash, the team announced.

INJURY UPDATES

Braves: LHP Jonny Venters has another torn UCL and is facing a third Tommy John surgery.

Indians: C Yan Gomes (concussion) is on track to be activated off the disabled list this coming weekend, manager Terry Francona confirmed.

Mets: Placed 2B Daniel Murphy on the 15-day DL with a right calf strain, the team announced. Top prospect 2B Dilson Herrera was called up in a corresponding move ... RHP Vic Black was also placed on the 15-day DL with a neck injury.

Tigers: RHP Joakim Soria (oblique) is ready to increase the workload of his throwing program. (MLB.com)

Yankees: RHP Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) threw a 49-pitch simulated game and felt only normal soreness.

MISCELLANY

Athletics: Played Thursday's game under protest following a controversial obstruction call at first base.

Brewers: Manager Ron Roenicke called umpire Mark Ripperger "terrible" for his work behind the plate on Wednesday.

Giants: RHP Yusmeiro Petit set a new major league record by retiring 46 consecutive batters.

Mets: Manager Terry Collins confirmed the team has "talked about" moving C Travis d'Arnaud to left field. (New York Daily News)

Phillies: Team president and CEO David Montgomery is taking a leave of absence to have cancer treatment.
