So many notable moments from baseball's opening day. From a Fantasy perspective, there were discouraging injuries and interesting closer decisions. But let's not forget the main reason we're here: Sports are fun.
We're running through all the relevant Fantasy stats and storylines Tuesday on another live episode of Fantasy Baseball Today, but we also want to know what your favorite opening day moment was. Tweet us @cbsfantasybb, and we'll shoutout the best submissions during the broadcast and blog about it later on. I'm showing some hometown bias here, but my favorite moment tugged at the old heartstrings.
Just a kid and his grandma hugging it out before the big game, but if you know Jose Fernandez's story, then you know this was more than just a sweet family moment. Olga Fernandez hadn't seen her grandson pitch since he defected from Cuba when he was 15.
It was nice that Jose's nine-strikeout, zero-walk win gave me a lead over Scott White in our staff points league, but that paled in comparison to watching Fernandez do the wave in the dugout and lobby to stay in the game like a kid who isn't ready for bedtime. His grandmother finally got to see the signature talent and enthusiasm that has made Fernandez one of the most compelling players in baseball.
Watch the show for more great opening day moments, and be sure to let us know what stood out to you.
