If you play in a league of any real depth, you've probably given some thought to adding Jake Arrieta, Kyle Gibson, Danny Duffy, Jesse Hahn or Jeff Locke in the last week or two. Maybe you even followed through with it. At least in Arrieta's case, you're probably too late if you haven't already.
Whenever a pitcher with their promise emerges this time of year, it's reason to act. By now, all the uncertainties from earlier in the year -- pitchers like Justin Masterson, Shelby Miller, Ubaldo Jimenez and Jake Peavy -- have settled into a pattern, removing some of the mystery that eats at your roster space. Everybody's looking for the next big-ticket item, and those with that kind of potential are pretty easy to spot.
I wouldn't necessarily lump Locke in with the rest. I'm not convinced the upside is the same.
