Chicago at Toronto

Venue: Rogers Centre

It's been more than six years since the Chicago White Sox won consecutive games in Toronto.

After rallying to even this four-game series, the AL Central-leading White Sox hope to again accomplish that feat against the Blue Jays on Wednesday night.

Chicago (63-52) snapped a four-game skid at Toronto by scoring all of its runs in the fifth inning of a 3-2 victory Tuesday. The White Sox have won five times in 23 contests at Rogers Centre since taking the first two of a three-game set Aug. 4-5, 2006. Their latest victory came despite Toronto (55-61) pounding out 10 hits and leading 2-0 before losing for the 12th time in 16 games.

"It was good for us, a big win," manager Robin Ventura said.

Chicago hopes Gavin Floyd (8-9, 4.43 ERA) can post a second straight solid outing against the Blue Jays. The right-hander was 0-4 with a 7.45 ERA in his first five starts versus Toronto before allowing four hits in 7 2-3 innings of a 2-0 home win July 7.

Floyd, 0-2 with an 8.18 ERA at Toronto, is 4-2 with a 2.63 ERA in his last eight starts overall. He gave up three runs in the first two innings and lasted six while not factoring in the decision of a 4-3 victory over Oakland on Friday.

"I've got to go out there and compete and try to keep the team in the game," Floyd said. "It's not always going to be like that, but when it does happen I'm going to battle my butt off to try to put up zeros."

Dayan Viciedo had two hits Tuesday for Chicago and is batting .368 (7 for 19) in his last five games. He's 0 for 6 against scheduled starter Ricky Romero (8-9, 5.32).

Teammate Kevin Youkilis is 9 for 25 (.360) with four home runs and three doubles versus Romero, who is 0-8 with a 7.26 ERA in nine starts since winning at Miami on June 22.

The left-hander, however, has a 1.93 ERA in his last two outings. He gave up three runs and four hits in seven innings of a 10-4 loss to New York on Friday.

"Even in the early innings when he mislocated some pitches, I thought he found a much better rhythm," manager John Farrell said. "When you look at the last three starts, it's predominantly been because of the trust in his fastball."

Facing the White Sox might further help Romero turn the corner. He went 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two starts at Chicago earlier this season and is 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA against the White Sox in his career at Rogers Centre.

Rajai Davis had three hits Tuesday for the injury-riddled Blue Jays, who have been held to two or fewer runs in five of their last eight contests. Toronto continues to struggle without regulars Jose Bautista, Brett Lawrie, Adam Lind and J.P. Arencibia.

Davis is batting .389 (7 for 18) with four doubles and four stolen bases over the last four games. He's 3 for 13 (.231) against Floyd.
