Colorado at Arizona

Venue: Chase Field

A victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks last weekend continued Jorge De La Rosa's successful start.

However, he's yet to beat the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Riding a 17-inning scoreless stretch, the veteran left-hander hopes to change that and help the Colorado Rockies to a fourth consecutive road win Thursday night against the Diamondbacks.

After De La Rosa (2-1, 2.82 ERA) did not allow a run in the final five innings of a 4-2 loss at San Francisco on April 8, he's yielded two hits over six scoreless frames in each of his last two outings. The latest in Saturday's 4-3 win at Coors Field, where he improved to 7-0 with a 1.38 ERA in eight starts versus Arizona (12-9).

It's been an impressive start for De La Rosa, who returned late last season after missing more than a year while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

"That's in the past," said De La Rosa, who turned 32 earlier this month. "I feel very good right now."

He's a big reason the Rockies (14-7) are the early leader in the NL West.

"We know what kind of pitcher he is and he's starting to get that momentum again," said teammate Carlos Gonzalez, who is 2 for 20 in the last five games. "He missed a lot of time, but now he's feeling back to the way he used to be."

One part of his past De La Rosa would like to improve upon is his 0-3 record in five starts at Chase Field. However, he's posted a 3.86 ERA and received an average 2.37 runs of support in those contests.

Colorado scored twice in the ninth off Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel then won 6-5 on Yorvit Torrealba's RBI single in the 12th on Wednesday to snap a three-game skid.

The win capped a 6-3 homestand for the Rockies, who endured that three-game slide following an eight-game winning streak that included a pair of victories over Arizona.

Colorado, which swept a three-game set at San Diego from April 12-14, has won three of four at Chase Field.

While De La Rosa was busy shutting down the Diamondbacks on Saturday, the Rockies tagged scheduled Arizona starter Trevor Cahill (0-3, 3.60) for four runs and six hits in seven innings.

The right-hander is 1-4 with a 5.30 ERA in six starts versus Colorado.

"Everybody knows they can hit, and they're healthy, and their pitchers are doing their job," Cahill told the Diamondbacks' official website after that start. "They're a good team and they're playing hard right now."

Colorado's Michael Cuddyer is 2 for 18 against Cahill, but he homered off him last week. Teammate Dexter Fowler is 4 for 8 with two triples versus Cahill.

Fowler went 6 for 14 (.429) in the three-game set with the Braves after he suffered through a 1-for-15 slump in the previous six.

Arizona split a six-game trip that started in Colorado by winning the last two in extra innings at San Francisco. Pinch-hitter Will Nieves delivered a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning of Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Giants.

Highly-touted shortstop prospect Didi Gregorius had two more hits, and is batting .400 (14 for 25) in six games since an elbow injury postponed his Arizona debut until April 18. He went 4 for 6 with a homer at Colorado last weekend.
