San Francisco at Toronto

Venue: Rogers Centre

Maybe all Melky Cabrera needed was a new ring, his old bats and a matchup with his former club to bust out of his slump.

Cabrera looks to stay hot while helping the Toronto Blue Jays win a season-high fourth straight as they host the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night to conclude a two-game set.

Mired in a 2-for-16 funk over his previous four games, Cabrera went 4 for 5 with two RBIs as Toronto (16-24) won 10-6 on Tuesday.

Cabrera was the All-Star game MVP and had an NL-best .346 batting average for the Giants last season when he was suspended in August for 50 games after testing positive for a banned substance. He wouldn't play again as San Francisco went on to win the World Series, and he signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Blue Jays in the offseason.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy delivered Cabrera his ring prior to Tuesday's contest in a private ceremony, then Cabrera promptly showed his former team what it's missing.

"I left some bats last season and (Giants equipment manager Mike Murphy) sent them to me and I was using them today," Cabrera said.

San Francisco (23-16), meanwhile, had its three-game winning streak snapped. Pablo Sandoval, batting .369 over his last 16 games, hit a three-run homer to extend his hitting streak to seven.

Brandon Belt homered for the second consecutive contest and has driven in six runs over his last four, but the Giants finished with two errors after committing that many over their last five games.

"We made a lot of mistakes," Bochy said.

The Giants try to get back on track as Ryan Vogelsong (1-3, 7.78 ERA) takes the mound looking to break through an early season funk.

Vogelsong, who has never faced the Blue Jays, is 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA over his last three outings after allowing six runs in 4 1-3 innings of a 6-3 loss to Atlanta on Thursday. The right-hander, though, insists he's on the verge of turning things around as he has with past struggles.

"I came through it after 13 years, I came through it after August 2011, I came through after August and September 2012, and I'll come through it again this year," Vogelsong said. "I feel really close. That's dangerous to say, but I feel closer to being where I need to be than further away."

Because Toronto starter Brandon Morrow isn't yet ready to return from injury, Ramon Ortiz (0-1, 3.24) will get another chance Wednesday. Morrow was scheduled to be on the mound, but back spasms forced him to delay his next start for the third time.

Enter Ortiz, who gave up one run but walked five in five innings of Friday's 5-0 loss to Boston in his first start since July 10, 2011, with the Chicago Cubs.

"He did a tremendous job," manager John Gibbons told the team's official website. "He did everything and more than we wanted to or expected."

The veteran right-hander, who gave up two runs in 3 1-3 innings of relief against the Chicago White Sox in his only other appearance April 17, has won both of his starts versus San Francisco, though neither came after 2006.

Toronto has won four of the last five meetings with San Francisco.
