Milwaukee at New York

Venue: Citi Field

A day after getting one of their stars back from suspension, the Milwaukee Brewers could see another top player return from injury.

The Brewers hope to have Jean Segura in their lineup on Saturday against New York, while the Mets could be without David Wright again.

Neither Segura nor Carlos Gomez, who was suspended one game for his role in the fracas between Milwaukee and Atlanta on Wednesday, were needed for a 4-2 series-opening win on Thursday. Gomez returned Friday, going 0 for 3 with a walk, but the Brewers (73-87) rode home runs from Norichika Aoki, Khris Davis and Martin Maldonado for another 4-2 victory, their ninth in 10 meetings at Citi Field.

A win Saturday would clinch Milwaukee's fifth series victory in its last seven to end the year. The club has won nine of 13.

Segura has missed nine straight contests due to a strained right hamstring, but manager Ron Roenicke said he could start Saturday. He's hitting .296 in 145 games and his 44 stolen bases have him tied with New York's Eric Young for the NL lead.

Wright, who has played in five games since returning from his own strained right hamstring, missed Friday's contest due to a thumb injury. He cleared concussion tests after a changeup to the helmet forced him to leave Thursday's opener, but jammed his right thumb while hitting the dirt on the same play. The Mets (73-87) could use his bat after totaling 11 runs over their last five games.

They'll dig in Saturday against Milwaukee's Jimmy Nelson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) in his first major league start. The right-hander is filling in for Wily Peralta, who was shut down for the year due to a blister on his index finger.

Regarded by many as the Brewers' top prospect, Nelson has thrown five scoreless innings over three relief appearances, yielding one hit and two walks. Pitching coach Rick Kranitz told the team's website that no pitch count has been set.

"I just think we want to see how he approaches the game, and it will give him the opportunity to say he has the experience of starting a big league game going into the offseason," Kranitz said.

New York counters with Aaron Harang (0-1, 4.24), who is trying to end a nine-start winless stretch extending to his time with Seattle, though he's been better in his three starts since being signed by the Mets.

Harang is 1-1 with a 2.52 ERA in five starts versus Milwaukee since 2010.

Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez sat out the first two games of this series after aggravating a knee injury when the benches cleared Wednesday, but could return to play this weekend. He's 21 for 63 off Harang with five homers.

Aoki, who homered to lead off Friday's contest, is 15 for 33 (.455) over his last eight games with nine runs.

Davis left after suffering a tight hamstring and strained quadriceps while trying to leg out a groundball in the eighth, but Roenicke is hopeful he'll be able to play Saturday.
