Boston at Cleveland

Venue: Progressive Field

The surging Cleveland Indians are hoping to stay hot after snapping the Boston Red Sox's winning streak.

Cleveland goes for a season-best fifth consecutive victory as these teams continue their three-game set at Progressive Field on Tuesday night.

After opening a six-game homestand with a three-game sweep of Colorado, the Indians (28-30) held on to beat Boston 3-2 on Monday. Justin Masterson threw seven strong innings and Lonnie Chisenhall drove in two more runs, giving him eight RBIs during the winning streak.

Despite Monday's win, the Indians are 4-11 in their last 15 against Boston (27-30).

The Red Sox had followed a 10-game losing streak with seven straight victories before coming up short. Star rookie Xander Bogaerts provided the offense with a two-run homer as Boston went 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position.

The Red Sox now turn to Jake Peavy (1-2, 4.50 ERA), who went 0-2 with a 5.89 ERA in six starts last month. The right-hander surrendered three runs and eight hits over a season-high eight innings in Thursday's 4-3 walkoff win over Atlanta.

"Peavy was great," catcher David Ross told MLB's official website. "I thought Peavy was as good as you're going to get for him."

Peavy is 4-0 with a 2.89 ERA over his last five starts against the Indians. He allowed one run and struck out 11 over seven innings in a 3-1 win at Cleveland with the Chicago White Sox on April 14, 2013.

He's had his way against Michael Brantley and Asdrubal Cabrera, who are a combined 5 for 27 with 10 strikeouts in their matchups since 2011.

Indians rookie T.J. House (0-1, 4.05), originally called up May 17, is set to make his first home start after a pair of contrasting outings on the road. The left-hander yielded five runs and 11 hits over six innings in an 8-4 loss at Baltimore on May 23, then scattered five hits over 6 1-3 innings of one-run ball in Wednesday's 3-2 walkoff loss against the White Sox.

"I think it was comfort in the fact that I've already been out there and this is the second go-round and I had ??? not as much anxiety as I did the first time, and definitely just with the preparation," said House, who struck out eight. "Knowing that I was able to have my five days, was able to do my routine, get a good game plan with these guys and go right after that."

House will try to slow down Bogaerts, who is batting .400 with three homers, 10 RBIs and 12 runs over a 16-game stretch.

Boston's Grady Sizemore, meanwhile, is hitting .196 with no homers and just one RBI in his last 14. The former Indians star went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts in his first game back in Cleveland.

"It's a little weird, but exciting," Sizemore said. "I'm happy to be back. There's a lot of good memories here. ... It still feels like home. I started here. It's kind of still a piece of me. It feels weird being back and being on the other side."

Shortstop Stephen Drew, who signed with Boston on May 21, went 0 for 2 with a walk in his season debut.
