Colorado at Arizona

Venue: Chase Field

The Arizona Diamondbacks have a chance to end their season-high homestand on a positive note if they can continue their dominance over the NL West's last-place team, the Colorado Rockies.

The Diamondbacks will try to register their sixth consecutive win over the Rockies on Saturday night while sending them to their 20th loss in 22 road games.

Arizona (50-66) started 2-5 in its 10-game stay at Chase Field and had lost five of six before a 5-3 win in Friday's opener against Colorado. Miguel Montero hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and David Peralta stole home in the seventh and had a pair of extra-base hits.

The Rockies scored one run in the first eight innings in their 10th loss in 12 games.

Trevor Cahill (1-8, 5.12 ERA) will attempt to send Colorado (45-70) to another defeat while earning his first win as a starter this season. He's 0-6 with a 6.35 ERA in eight starts and has gotten a combined nine runs of support.

Cahill was in line for his first victory since April 23 on Sunday against Pittsburgh, but Brad Ziegler gave up the tying run in the eighth in a 3-2 win in 10 innings.

Cahill allowed one run in seven innings, his longest start since Aug. 22. The right-hander also struck out seven and walked one in his fourth start since rejoining the rotation July 18.

He was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in his three previous starts and is winless in a career-high 16 consecutive appearances.

"I think he made progress. I certainly hope so," manager Kirk Gibson said. "If he can continue to throw the ball and build off of that, it's a good sign for us. That's what we need."

Cahill has not started against Colorado this season and was 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in his final three matchups last year, the latest on Sept. 21. He'll face a team that's batting .229 and averaging 2.8 runs in its last 21 road games.

The Rockies didn't score any runs in Jorge De La Rosa's latest start Sunday in Detroit. He gave up four runs over 6 2-3 innings in a 4-0 loss.

De La Rosa (11-7, 4.27) is 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA in his last two games after going 5-0 with a 3.05 ERA in his prior six. The left-hander is 0-2 with a 4.86 ERA in his last three matchups with Arizona, including two this season, after going 8-3 with a 2.11 ERA in his previous 13.

He got one run of support in his seven innings against the Diamondbacks on June 3 and gave up three runs and seven hits in a 4-2 loss.
