ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Barely settled in after being recalled from the minors a day earlier, Kendry Morales made an immediate impression.

He hit a two-run homer, Gary Matthews Jr. added a solo shot and the Los Angeles Angels rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing skid with their fourth come-from-behind win.

Morales tied the game 2-2 in the seventh. He sent a 2-0 pitch from starter Paul Byrd into the right-field seats, scoring Erick Aybar, who led off with a single.

"After he fell behind 2-0 with off-speed, I was definitely sitting on a fastball," Morales said through a translator. "I was hoping to put a good swing on it and come back well and I did."

Morales is on his second stint with the Angels this season. He appeared in two games in April, including a start as designated hitter. This time, he took the roster spot of reliever Justin Speier, who went on the 15-day DL Tuesday because of a non-baseball related condition.

Morales would like to stick around longer.

"I needed to do something to help the team out because the team hasn't been playing very well in first place," he said. "It's even more important for my confidence that (the homer) came at that moment, a very opportune time for the team. You kind of see yourself in those situations, you visualize helping the team out. Thank God, I connected."

Dustin Moseley (3-0) allowed one hit in two innings of relief, helping the Angels secure their AL-leading 13th home win.

"He's just been lights-out wherever we put him in," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He's a big addition to our staff this year and gives us more depth."

Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth for his 11th save in 12 chances.

Matthews greeted Fernando Cabrera (1-2) in the eighth with his third homer of the season, hitting the first pitch into the same area Morales did for the go-ahead run.

"It was a big hit for Kendry. Jered kept us in the ballgame. We battled the whole way and that's good to see," Scioscia said. "There were some things that we didn't execute very well. The home runs made up for it."

The Indians built a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta's RBI double off the outfield wall against starter Jered Weaver.

"We did a real good job against Weaver those first couple of innings," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "Then he got a little bit better and we got a little bit worse. He took it to us after that. That sixth inning killed us -- bases loaded, one out and we can't put the ball in play."

Trailing 2-0, Weaver pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth, working Josh Barfield to a 3-2 count before getting a called third strike on a breaking ball to end the inning.

"I knew if I threw a slider in there for a strike anywhere near the zone that I'd have a good chance at it," Weaver said. "He looked at it and it was strike three. It was good to keep us in the game."

Byrd gave up at least one hit in each of the seven innings he pitched against his former team.

"I look at it as a good start, but I'm very disappointed because I had that game won," he said. "The way that inning worked out was very frustrating. I fell behind Morales and tried to throw a fastball away, but I pulled it a little bit and it ended up in, and that's his favorite spot."

The Angels' 40 double plays lead the AL and they turned two in the game -- one with Weaver on the mound -- but their offense sputtered through the first six innings. They failed to advance a runner past second and managed just three doubles during that stretch.

Notes

Weaver has limited opponents to three earned runs or less in four of his five starts. ... The Angels are 15-1 when Matthews scores a run. ... Morales' homer was his first of the season and first since July 3 at Seattle. ... Martinez has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, hitting .428 with two homers and 13 RBI. His 27 RBI leads the Indians. ... The Angels' Vladimir Guerrero went 2-for-4 with two doubles.
