Rain forces Giants-Marlins to play doubleheader on Sunday wire reports

MIAMI -- The game between the San Francisco Giants and Florida Marlins on Saturday night was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.

The start of the game was delayed 2 hours, 53 minutes before it was called.

Right-hander Matt Cain (2-3) will oppose Florida's Mark Hendrickson (6-2) in Sunday's first game. San Francisco left-hander Pat Misch (0-0) will start Game 2. The Marlins did not announce who would start the second game.

Florida scheduled starter Burke Badenhop warmed up in the bullpen before the delay. During the wait, the team announced reliever Logan Kensing would pitch if the game started.

San Francisco's Omar Vizquel enters Sunday needing one game to tie Luis Aparicio's major league record for most games (2,583) played at shortstop.

It was the first rainout at Dolphin Stadium three games in September 2004 were postponed because of Hurricane Frances.
