2013 MLB Draft: Twins sign fourth overall pick Kohl Stewart
The Twins have signed fourth overall pick Kohl Stewart, a high school right-hander.
The Twins have signed fourth overall pick Kohl Stewart, the team announced. He received the $4.54 million slot bonus.
Stewart, 18, is a high school right-handed pitcher from Houston. Baseball America ranked him as the fifth-best prospect available in the draft a few weeks ago, saying he "boosted his fastball from 88-93 mph last summer to 91-96 for much of the spring ... his best offering is a power mid-80s slider with tilt."
Stewart is the first high school pitcher the Twins have selected in the true first round since Kyle Waldrop in 2004.
